The story

How curiosity became a growing method.

Green Hydro Farms was founded in Chandigarh in 2019 by electronics engineer Ajay Hooda. It began with a simple, personal question: how could fresh food be grown at home in a more controlled and efficient way?

Driven by his engineering mindset, Ajay started researching hydroponics before the COVID-19 pandemic. He built small systems at home and ran repeated experiments to understand plant nutrition, water quality, environmental conditions and system design.

There was no shortcut. It meant successful harvests and failed trials, plant problems and redesigns — continuously improving each method through observation and experimentation. Over time he developed and tested NFT and Dutch bucket systems, and grew leafy vegetables, tomatoes and strawberries.

As more people became interested in learning, Ajay began teaching beginners. Today, Green Hydro Farms focuses on one-to-one live online training, research and hydroponic product design — teaching only what has been researched, tested and grown.

The journey

From 2019 to today.

2019

The beginning

Ajay starts researching soil-free growing to produce fresh food at home, and founds Green Hydro Farms.

Research

Years of experiments

Trials with different crops, nutrients and conditions. NFT and Dutch bucket systems designed and tested.

Products

Selling systems

Hydroponic products supplied through the website and marketplaces like Amazon and Flipkart.

Today

Education first

Focused on one-to-one live training, research and product design for growers across India.

Mission

To make hydroponics understandable and practical for beginners through scientific education, real experimentation and personalised guidance.

Vision

To build a trusted hydroponics research, education and innovation brand with dedicated growing facilities, practical training and thoughtfully designed products.

Our promise

We don't teach hydroponics through theory alone. We share knowledge developed through research, repeated trials and real growing experience.

What we value

Six principles behind every class.

Research

We study each growing method carefully before recommending it.

Experimentation

Practical trials are essential for understanding plants, nutrients and systems.

Scientific thinking

Guidance based on measurable factors — pH, EC, TDS, temperature, humidity and light.

Simplicity

We make technical hydroponic concepts easier for beginners to understand.

Personal guidance

Our one-to-one approach lets every learner ask questions and grow at their pace.

Continuous learning

We keep learning through every crop and experiment — and pass it on.

What we do now

Three ways we work.

Training

One-to-one live online classes for beginners, students and home growers across India.

Research

Ongoing experiments with crops, nutrients, systems and environmental control.

Product design

Designing and testing hydroponic growing systems, from NFT to Dutch buckets.

Looking ahead

Growing facilities of our own.

Our long-term goal is to develop innovative hydroponic products and establish dedicated indoor and outdoor growing facilities — spaces to keep experimenting, refining better systems and sharing practical knowledge with growers across India.
